🎉 Event Announcement: Noche de San Juan Celebration in Holyoke, MA 🎉

June 24 @ 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

We are delighted to announce the vibrant celebration of Noche de San Juan! A festival dear to Puerto Ricans worldwide, this event being organized by the City of Nueva Esperanza Inc., El Corazon de Holyoke and Holyoke’s Planning and Economic Development Department honors the birth of Saint John, the Baptist, with unique traditions and joyful festivities.

While globally, the feast varies, in Puerto Rico, it’s an occasion to hit the beach and welcome the summer. We might not have the Caribbean Sea here in Holyoke, but we surely know how to keep the spirit alive!

Join us on Saturday, June 24th from 12PM – 7PM for a day filled with water activities tailored for all ages to give you a taste of the tradition.

💦 About Noche de San Juan 💦

La Noche de San Juan is celebrated two days before the summer solstice. At the stroke of midnight, the tradition is to take at least three backward plunges into the sea to ward off negativity – though some do seven or 12 dives for extra cleansing.

🎉 A Holyoke Celebration 🎉

Although we’re far from Puerto Rico’s sandy beaches, this curated event encapsulates the essence of this joyous event.

Expect a day of fun-filled water activities that mimic the traditional backward plunges. From water games to splash contests, we’ve got something for everyone to enjoy!
