Giulio Rosk painted an impressive homage to the history of Haverhill, specifically marking the influence of the city’s Italian culture, which originated alongside Haverhill’s historic leather and shoe-making industry. The mural is painted on the side of the Haverhill Housing Authority, adorning a building that primarily houses senior citizens of Haverhill. For this reason, it was important to the artist to share representation of an elder from his culture. Rosk modernizes this historic scene with influences of graffiti, merging hyper-realism with a contemporary twist for the community of this very welcoming gateway city.
