Joy is defined as an intense momentary expression of positive emotion. We have been programmed to be sharply divided by polarized political views, when in reality we find JOY in the same things. Round things, pops of bright color, symmetrical shapes, lightness or elevation. The purpose for my art is to allure the viewer to spend a moment outside their mind and into the present moment. I add “glitches” as pops of bright color symbolizing the unpredictability of life itself, bursts of energy, fleeting moments of joy, glitches in space and time. Researchers have found that people working in more colorful offices are more alert, confident, friendly, and more productive. For schools and restaurants, attendance and clientele improves, graffiti disappears. I believe that my art can bring a community together, create a feeling of joy, positive energy, and awaken people’s senses.
